wow. woooooow.

Psycho stage moms unite and live vicariously through their spray tanned, false eyelashed, fake haired 3 year olds. Dear Lord, deliver us from evil...

stooopid

In an amazing acrobatic feat of tard, I burned the back of my calf with freshly boiled water. Incredible, I know. 'And the Tard Olympics would now like to present the Gold to Yana....' It's mostly healing now, but the potential scar had me in tears.

The ANTM cattle call was last night. As I walked up to the Coliseum at 6:15, there was a line from the doors outside and around the building. The tension was thick as frozen butter as I watched the girls in the line check eacother out. SO HILARIOUS. After inching our way in the cold for 25 mins, a man came out and announced "NO MORE GIRLS. THEY AREN'T SEEING ANYMORE GIRLS, SO GO HOME." Wtf, really? Chris joked, I bet that is just some womans boyfriend trying to get to rid all the competition!' Then a black mamma started yelling at the local news camera "this is my daughter's DREAM! We worked too hard to get turned away at the doors!! TYRA!!! THIS IS THE AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL!!!!!!" Ahh, don't you just love stage moms projecting their dreams onto their daughters? We then decided a celebratory drink was due...to celebrate.....the effort! I love an excuse to celebrate!

Oh Shel. You're such a hoot.

As a child, my favorite Shel Silverstein poem was 'Sarah Cynthia Slyvia Stout Would Not Take The Garbage Out'. I remember memorizing parts of it!

What was your favorite poem or story as a little kiddo?

Sarah Cynthia Sylvia Stout
Would not take the garbage out!
She'd scour the pots and scrape the pans,
Candy the yams and spice the hams,
And though her daddy would scream and shout,
She simply would not take the garbage out.
And so it piled up to the ceilings:
Coffee grounds, potato peelings,
Brown Bananas, rotten peas,
Chunks of sour cottage cheese.
It filled the can, it covered the floor,
It cracked the window and blocked the door
With bacon rinds and chicken bones,
Drippy ends of ice cream cones,
Prune pits, peach pits, orange peel,
Gloppy glumps of cold oatmeal,
Pizza crusts and withered greens,
Soggy beans and tangerines,
Crusts of black burned buttered toast,
Grisly bits of beefy roasts...
The garbage rolled down the hall,
It raised the roof, it broke the wall...
Greasy napkins, cookie crumbs,
Globs of gooey bubble gum,
Cellophane from green baloney,
Rubbery blubbery macaroni,
Peanut butter, caked and dry,
Curdled milk and crusts of pie,
Moldy melons, dried-up mustard,
Eggshells mixed with lemon custard,
Cold french fries and rancid meat,
Yellow lumps of Cream of Wheat.
At last the garbage reached so high
That finally it touched the sky.
And all the neighbors moved away,
And none of her friends would come to play.
And finally Sarah Cynthia Slylvia Stout said,
"Ok, I'll take the garbage out!"
But then, of course, it was too late...
The garbage reached across the state,
From New York to the Golden Gate.
And there, in the garbage she did hate,
Poor Sarah met an awful fate,
That I cannot right now relate
Because the hour is much too late.
But children, remember Sarah Stout
And always take the garbage out!

abdominal midget punching bag kind of day

dudettes.

i spent allllll day in bed yesterday, recovering from the head cold that reared it's ugly head once more. But even worse, my abdominal/ovaries area felt like a midgets' punching bag, then it switched to midget with a knife. I could hardly walk! If you're wondering, I am pretty sure I'm not preggo, fertile myrtle, womb fruit. Thankfully today, I can walk again AND I can breathe through my nose.

in other news:

1. my tulips are beginning to peek their heads from the earth's surface. I can't wait to greet their pretty faces!

2. My computer sucks. It's been so slow I haven't even wanted to turn it on. I nearly hurled its piece of crap across the room today. I want it to die a slow and painful death, and then maybe set it on fire. Someday I will, after I get my Mac.

3. in preparation for my audition for ANTM I took headshots. For those of you who don't know me, I am doing this as a joke, even though I'd like to think I'd kick everyone's ayuss.

4. we are having the most schizoprenic weather lately. Last week in PA it was snowing, then by the end of the week it was a gorgeous 70 degrees. Please, grandpa winters, pack your bags and go to florida already, we need Spring!

America's Next Top Shorty Model is.....

...not going to be me, but I will audition at the open casting call this Thursday!

They are now accepting 'short' girls under 5'7". I'm laughing at myself and my friends who tell me 'you HAVE to DO it!!!' So, I will, and it will be funny. Nothing will come out of it, but I'll be able to file it away in my 'crazy things I've done' memory file.

Ok, gotta go work on my walk and fill out a 15 page application. omg.

Operation: Dumbo Drop

Actually today should be more appropriately titled Operation: Move in Yana's Crap Day.

TODAY WAS MOVING DAY!

eeeeeee!!!

For the first time in 7 months, it's beginning to feel like a home. I even took my shoes off and walked on my newly finished hardwood floors. And let me tell you, when you wear dirty tennis shoes, knee pads and work clothes inside the 'house' for 7 months.....bare feet on fresh wood feels like heaven.

I will be unpacking, and posting pictures alllllll next week.

a love note from my teeth

the best part is leaving.

stale florescant lighting. the smell of latex. handles and tubes covered in plastic. as I lay uncomforably in my chair turned bed, the stranger with a blinking birthday pin has her rubber gloves in my mouth. sharp metal tools lay to her right. my eyes search for something to look at. it finds no tv like I was hoping for, only gold twirly birthday celebrations hanging from the dropped ceiling and photos of black cancer gums. then she starts talking. I dont know who's more uncomforable here, me or her. she is, after all, the one with her fingers in my mouth. maybe the silence is more awkward for her, so she makes lame jokes and comments on things, as though, she expects me to answer. 70 bucks i'm shelling out to have her rubbery fingers jarr my mouth apart and make talking sound like a chore. there's pain too, of course, where her metal tools scrape away the tartar. I grimace, she says sorry, I'm doing this the best I can. pahf! I get ansty by the moment, swallowing excess pools of saliva, and it was then she turned on the sucker. the sound of air being sucked rapidly into a little tube, sckkooooooooooooooo, and the sckoopppPPP! the sound of my cheeks hallowed from moisture. here, a little squirt of water for you, swish it, ok, sckkoooopppPPP! ah, those 4 ounces of water feel like an oasis. she tells me, brush the insides better. ok, lady will do. enters male dentist. hello, how are you, any sensitivity? nope. good. ok...........8 seconds later.... you're in great shape, see you later! exits doctor. wow, how much is HE getting paid? I get my free toothbrush, and get the hell out of there.

the best part is leaving...6 months is all I have.

raw, vegan, vegetarian & carnivore

About 6 years ago I was infected with a parasite, or ameoba, and it began to affect my joints in a manner similar to Rheumatoid Arthritis. I went from a fully functioning happy 19 year old, to a depressed and at times, bed ridden girl. I could barely move with out excruciating pain, and sleeping was diffcult. After finding a doctor and taking some perscription drugs without much sucess or relief, my family thought the only option left is to consult an herbalist. I moved to California and sought out the care of an herbalist, Ronda. She put me on a hard core regime of herbs, raw foods and juices. It took an incredible amount of money, time and effort to be a raw foodist, but I began to see some changes in my body. Cutting all processed foods and dairy from my diet helped my joints trememdously. I ate raw food for 3 years and then moved to PA, where the weather is cold. I couldn't take another cold winter day without some hot food in my belly, so I changed my diet to vegan. At this point I was still in a lot of pain. Hot showers in the morning were crucial to my movement, and stairs were still daunting. Things gradually got better, and I began to eat dairy again. Probably not the best idea....but I love cream in my coffee! Then, I fell in love, and that helped me to feel better, if not phsyically, emotionally. He's so encouraging and helpful. Once we got married I began cooking a lot of delicious things that I know I shouldn't eat...meat. As my friend Lauren says, 'Meat, is murder. Tasty, tasty murder.'

While I have not regained full movement of my joints, currently I am functioning at the highest capacity I have in 6 years. I'm excercising, stairs are no problem, I can lift heavy things and I have energy. But yet, I reconized the need to do more. To be better to my body. So I have begun juicing again. I don't think I will cut out meat or dairy completely, but I know that if I can increase my fresh juices daily and limit processed foods, meats and dairy....I am on the road to recovery quicker than I think.

I didn't intend for this to be such a long post, but I wanted to encourage anyone who wants to be better to their bodies or if you are dealing with health problems yourself - we can heal ourselves through the natural things God has placed on this earth. Just have faith, stay positive, make good choices and be gentle on yourself if you dont always pick the carrot over the ice cream bar.

S.O.S

I have 2 cabinets, and they've got me up against a wall. What should I do to make them pretty?

Breif history: these two bookcases came from my parents first house in WA, bulit in the 50's. And obviously, the cool thing to do in 1989 was to spray paint them spakley black and turquoise, and faux marbleize the top. So hideous... I...I...I don't even know where to begin to make fun of them. But they have so much potential!

I intend to use one as a china cabinet in my dining room, and the other? maybe in the guest rooms for linens, or the office for stuff.

But here's my problem. I don't know how to refinish them? I have tossed around all sorts of ideas from painting them red...soft blue, white washing [but my fear of 'shabby chic' puts me in a state of paralysis] I have thought about stripping them completely and staining...but what color?

please, friends and readers. have some mercy. toss any ideas you have my way!!

thx, xoxo

A little fiber for your day

better & progress

I'm much better today. The washer fixer man arrived last night at 6:30 in the middle of dinner, and 150 dollars later, my clogged hose was un-clogged and my washer is now working again.
Today is laundering of the accumulation of dirty clothes from last week. So in between washer to dryer exchanges, I am blogging, drinking fresh pineapple and ginger juice and packing!

PACKING! To mooooove. This weekend! Holy gospel. I can't belive it's really going to happen.
We finished the poly on the floors Sunday night, and my...they are yar:

Exbihit A: Office/Music Room & Future Baby room. (far future.)

Exhibit B: Master bdrm closet

Exhibit C: Master bdrm closet 'before' and Chris awkwardly darting away from the lens:

As we wait paitently for them to dry before we move things in, Chris is finishing up the electrical work, and I am cleaning like a fairy freak. I swear, the woman who owned the house before me had not cleaned her baseboards or window sills in the 13 years she lived there.

Exhibit D: Cheap and Fancy Schmancy chandelier from Ikea.

Yippeeee skiipppeeeee OH THE FUN We'll have playing 'house'

I'm nice...I'm nice...visions of peace signs & teddy bears floating through my head

I'm generally a nice person. But today I'm a bit irked and I need to vent, so I run the risk of sounding like a mean person. I don't care.

I SPENT A RIDICULOUS AMOUNT OF TIME ON THE PHONE WITH SEARS TRYING TO SCHEDULE, CANCEL AND CHANGE AND APPOINTMENT TO GET MY WASHER FIXED.
[and writing in caps normally really bothers me but it's kind of soothing at the moment]
MUST Sears have their customer service headquarters in INDIA?? Where I talk round and round in circle with people who's accents are so strong I can't understand what they are saying? And they can't understand my horrible american accent either??

and WHY oh WHY am I constantly surrounded by impossible ignorant drivers? Do I have a sign on my car that says 'Idiots Welcome Here!' I wish I didn't have to drive at all and be bothered by other drivers, who are clearly, driving only to make my life completely and utterly frustrating.

And my NEIGHBOR. She is possibly, the grumpiest woman I have ever met. Recently there was an 'open' spot in front of my house [i live in a city, parking spots are precious] and so naturally, I pulled into it. My neighbor, saw that I had taken HER SPOT and glared at my like i was the devil himself, yelled at me for taking the spot she was saving for the log delivery man, like I KNEW she was saving it and did it on purpose just to spite her. SHEEEEEESH!

Well, I feel a tad better. But I'm still a little peeved that the washer man hasn't shown up yet. His 'window' of time to show up was 8-5. That's not a window, that's the freakin red sea. Window. Hah.
